DAUGHTER TIME
DAUGHTER TIME is a Young Adult High Fantasy novel with a god-driven magic system reminiscent of DIVINE RIVALS, the narrative style of THE BOOK THIEF, and the political corruption and scheming of MACBETH.
Told through multiple points of view, DAUGHTER TIME considers the different ways people grapple with choice, power, and mortality – and how the imbalance makes us human.
Seventeen-year-old Vanna Mite has lived her life with a mysterious symbol branded on her cheek. She’s certain it’s further proof of her madness – after all, when she meets someone new, the first thing she sees is a premonition of their death.
Vanna lives with her disparaging uncle, who would rather pass their family’s magic to a stranger than trust her as his heir. In a world governed by the gods of Time, Death, Fate, and Creation, each ruling family has their own agenda – and they’ll kill to see their goals realized.
But, to a god such as a Time, the plots of humans are trivial. He is content to let them bicker and murder…until the infighting puts his own plans at risk. Unbeknownst to Vanna, her existence is a product of Time’s ambition, and her “madness” is the most important weapon in his arsenal.
Vanna must navigate fading friendship and forbidden attraction, while coming to terms with the realization that she isn’t who she thought she was. In learning to accept herself, Vanna must decide between cowering in the life that’s familiar and embracing the power that comes with something new.
